I'm Slipping

Boo. My blog has dropped a notch in the google search for "nancy's blog". Excluding the little sub-results, I used to be third, and now I'm fourth.

...

Yes, I am in fact desperately avoiding packing. ; )

postscript

Oh yes, for those of you paying attention - I will be losing internet as of sometime tomorrow. Until I move into my new place (Thursday or Friday), expect to see me online only when I'm at work.

Oops.

I changed the title of the last entry, because I forgot that you aren't supposed to tell people on the internet where you live. Oops. ; )

Playing the refresh game

I'm waiting for that one last grade... And even though I do realize that at this hour there's little point in checking, I still feel the compulsion to refresh the April grades page constantly as if it would somehow help matters.

At any rate, DBMS is still in the air, but I'm pretty happy with what I have heard back about. My marks range from painless to appreciable (C- in arch, A- in Systems Analysis & Design, and an A in Software Engineering), so I'm really not going to complain.

In other news, the lack of activity on the apartment blog can be attributed to the fact that I called back and asked to lease the one apartment I showcased the same day that I looked at it. And so the apartment hunt blog bites the dust. I am a fickle creature when it comes to internet endeavors.

But I have an apartment. Which, hopefully, I will be moving into on Thursday night. Since I continue to be roommateless, I'm going to use the second bedroom as a library/living room sort of thing. All those built-in bookshelves make me weak at the knees.

And I start work at the AITT on Monday. It should be pretty interesting; I'm looking forward to it. It's been a pretty programming-light year, schoolwise, so it will be nice to get back to it.

So... grades, apartment, job... give me another week, and I'll be settled into summer. ; )

A Warning:

Should you ever be tempted to attempt to carry a mug of hot chocolate while holding a cat, take my advice: don't.

Note: Exceptions are to be made in the case of cat-and-hot-chocolate-juggling buskers.

Apartments and such

I've decided to chronicle my apartment search. It can be found, in all it's detail, here.

I'm open to all opinions and input on the matter. Also, if there's anyone out there looking to share a sublet for the summer, feel free to get in touch with me.

...some random apartment. really.

2 Bedroom apartment in a house. $300/month per room (neg.), or $400/month for both rooms if it's just me. Includes heat, light, hot water, and there's coin-op laundry in the basement. Close to campus and downtown (so close to Light & Shadow!), and also cat-happy. Also, I can apparently move in a day or two early, as there's no one there now. That is awesome, because it means I don't have to worry about trying to move entirely on one single, harried day.

The house:

Bedroom 1:
Also has two closets, one with a bar for clothes, the other with shelves.

Bedroom 2:
Two shelves to hang stuff in, also two sets of full floor to ceiling bookshelves built into the walls. (This would be awesome as a library study thing if I took the place myself. ; ) )

The Kitchen/Living Room:
Lots of counter space and cupboards. There's also kind of a cubby thing behind the fridge, which could probably be placed somewhere a little better.
